The members of the Salem Trayn'd Band recreate pikemen of the Salem Company of the East Regiment as they might have appeared in the spring of 1637. The original company was commanded by Captain William Traske, one of the original settlers of Naumkeag in 1624. Naumkeag was renamed Salem in 1630 when it became the capital of the new Massachusetts Bay Colony. Captain Traske's house was in what is now Peabody.
